Week 5- Interviewing Customers No.2

1)      I think that my idea of a Snack Pack is something I am going to pursue. Most of the people that I interviewed thought it would be a good idea.
2)      I am specifically targeting swimmers because they tend to train for the longest periods of time. It also worked well that I was at a swim meet this weekend so it was easy to wander the hotel and interview swimmers.
3)      I tried to ask more open ended questions in the beginning and then narrow in my focus during my interview.
4)      The interviews are below!
5)      I have learned that some people think a snack will hinder their workout, but the majority do not. Most people do agree that a snack at the right time during a workout will help them improve their workout.
6)      I am definitely way more confident now and I am way more comfortable with asking people if they want to be interviewed. I am also way more confident when it comes to asking the questions. I rarely stuttered this round! I still don’t think I have the question technique down yet, but I’m hoping to get there. Since we are getting more product specific instead on opportunity I decided to ask some close ended questions. For example, I asked if they would use something like a Snack Pack.

Hope you enjoy!

  2. Courtney, I would agree you seemed very relaxed in asking your questions.

The only thing I would suggest the next round of questions is to have your customers tell you what they like about what is on the market today for snacking and also what they do not like with regards to what is available for the average athlete. I suggest this in order to tailor your snack pack to the 80% of the market needing that pick me up during training.

I am not sure what your snack pack includes, but I think you may be onto something. My niece is a dancer and she can burn up to 2000 calories a day because of her activity level (she dances 5-6 days a week). If I have to pick her up between dance schools she wants a snack (granola, fruit or something to get her going). Great idea.

  3. Hello Courtney!
I can definitely agree that asking questions to strangers is not as easy as it sounds, but you seem to have the hang of it! I like how you asked your customers to give their own definitions of what an athlete is, it's a great way to loosen up the mood, and people love to give their options. It would be intrusion to see if athletes from different sports benefited from different snacks, maybe consider asking what kind of snack they would eat. Awesome job!

  4. Hi Courtney! Great job with the interviews. You seemed comfortable interviewing strangers, which is something I have needed to work on. While penetrating a niche market, like swimming, could be a great business plan, I think it would be a good idea to branch out and possibly find a market that could complement the swimming market segment.
