Week 2- My Entrepreneurship Story

Over my life, I have been exposed to many entrepreneurship ventures. I have had various friends attempt to start their own businesses in high school, most of which have failed, but hopefully many have attempted it again. Recently, one of my very good friends has started her own bikini business; popularity of handmade bikinis are on the rise. Many people are loving these handmade bikini’s unique style, and their great quality. These bikini businesses are often advertised widely on social media websites such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The more people that “share” the page, the more people find out about the business. Social media is a very cheap and quick way to advertise a business. My friend’s new business, “Blue House Bikinis”, is set to open in late January so anyone who is interested in quality homemade bikinis, check her out on Facebook and Instagram!

I decided to take ENT 3003 because I want to sharpen both my creativity and innovation skills. Someday I want to open my own law office and to do that, I need to be creative and innovative. I will need something that will make me stand out from the other law firms. I have been thinking about integrating my law skills with another business, like interpreting. I am able to speak American Sign Language (ASL) conversationally, and if I can help these [deaf and blind] people with both their law and interpreting needs, my business might stand out. If my business can stick out in people’s minds, I will be able to become a very successful lawyer and business woman.  Knowledge I gain in ENT 3003 might help me on this journey.
Check out "Blue House Bikinis"!

Week 2- Introduction

Hello!

My name is Courtney Meyer and I am a second year here at the University of Florida. I am from the Tampa area and have been in Florida my entire life. I am currently pursuing a dual degree in both criminology and law and also in business administration. I am on the pre-law track and have plans to attend law school after I finish my undergraduate studies, and eventually continue on to become a practicing attorney.  In 10 years I hope to have opened my own law firm; that it why I decided to pick up the business degree.  In my undergraduate and graduate studies I want to learn not only how to practice law, but also how to successfully run my own business.  At UF I am very involved on campus. I am a part of the Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta’s Mock Trial Team, Florida Club Swimming, the Gator Wake Wakeboarding Club, and the all-girls board club Wahines of Waves.  Outside of school I love to read, swim, do yoga, wakeboard, snowboard, and just hang out!

Here's a little picture to describe me. I may be very active, but I tend to trip over my own two feet when I am on land!
